Prophecy about the Moon

Mayas civilization shares with other ancient cultures the mythological obsessive attachment towards the Moon. Nevertheless, they are the only ones that created a calendar-Tun-Uc, especially for the Moon, which renders a very minute description of all movements and phases. The prophecy based on Moon talks about violent disasters as floods but also about the reckless exploitation of natural resources. Except the unpredictable nature of the Moon, the prophecy contains also positive energies that suggests creativity and, by association with weaving and agriculture, there are a lot of practical and functional aspects of these prophecies.
There are many layers of signification that contributes to this prophecy. It is noticeable that Mayas mythology offers a human character to the moon, talking about its unpredictable nature, about its promiscuous and deceiving nature. Therefore, Moon’s influence is changing and unpredictable.
The prophecy, associated with the cycles of Moon’s phases at the end of 2012 Katun, carries an unpredictable and less positive message. Moon’s nature, deceiving, promiscuous and unpredictable suggests moments that shall surprise and test us. The association of the moon with water implies a period of catastrophic floods. The familiar image of the “men on the moon” is the equivalent at Mayas with the “rabbit on the moon”, symbol of drinking, which suggests the idea of an intoxicated world, for example, by materialism, but in search of a deeper satisfaction. In evident contrast, the relation of moon with birth suggests a positive result, probably the apparition of a new cosmic conscious, a more sensitive one. The extremes are obvious, the balance leaning from one side to another.
